Insurance and Billing
Contact our office to verify acceptance of your plan. City Island Dentistry is not an in-network provider; however, we will be happy to file your insurance claims for you. We accept checks, cash or credit cards (Visa or Mastercard). We also offer a flexible payment plan. Please see our financial coordinator for details. We are happy to file insurance for your reimbursement as long as you are free to choose your own dentist.
As a courtesy to our patients, we will help take care of the paperwork involved in submitting dental benefit claims. However, that is our only involvement with any dental insurance company.A dental insurance benefit plan is a contract between an employer and an insurance company. The benefits provided are based on the terms of the contract the employer has negotiated with the insurance company. Most dental insurance policies provide benefits only for basic care and treatment. Most dental insurance plans provide only partial reimbursement for most of the services they cover. However, many of the better plans do pay 100% of our fees for preventive services (x-rays, regular “check-up” exams, and preventive periodontal debridement) within limits determined by the insurance company. These limits vary from plan to plan. Some plans will pay for these services four times per year, some plans only twice per year, depending on the type of contract the employer has purchased. The amount of coverage for an individual varies, with a typical range of 40 to 80 percent of the total charge, up to the annual maximum benefit.
This dental office does not participate in the negotiations between any employer and any insurance company. We do not work for any insurance company. We work for you. Therefore, we have no influence as to how much coverage you policy provides. We strive to provide the best dental services to all of our patients regardless of their level of dental insurance.
We have only one “fee schedule” in this office. All of our patients are charge the same fees (with some variation depending on the difficulty or amount of time spent) regardless of their level of dental insurance coverage. Doing this allows us to provide the highest level of dental care to all of our patients.
Most dental insurance policies have a set amount they will pay per year (annual maximum benefit) for dental services, regardless of what your health needs are. Many dental insurance companies that claim to pay a percentage of your dental fee will pay less than advertised if they feel you could have had the work done with cheaper material. They will pay a percentage of what it might have cost you if had chosen to have something that in some cases is not as nice and in other cases, not as good for your tooth or teeth. Most dental insurance companies do not provide coverage for many procedures that are necessary to correct certain problems. Most dental insurance companies do not pay for cosmetic procedures.
We accept checks, cash or credit cards (Visa or Mastercard). We also offer a flexible payment plan. Please see our Financial Coordinator for details. We are happy to file insurance for your reimbursement as long as you are free to choose your own dentist.
